Grateful Living Experiment: Day 1

Today I want to focus on the past, my childhood and other great memories. I am truly grateful for my parents for loving me the way I am, believing in me, letting me to develop the way I wanted and giving me total freedom in order to learn from my own mistakes.

I am grateful for myself, and not to be shallow but  because I managed to fulfill so many things so far. I traveled, pushed my personal limits and experienced quite a few chapters. Most of all, I am truly grateful for my traveling experience because this is one of my dreams, to see the world with my eyes. I enjoyed every second abroad.

I have to say that I am extremely grateful for the friends I have. And to be honest, I’m not quite a lovable human being, I’m quite complicated with a most-of-the-times slappable diva face — Honestly, sometimes I ask myself, how can people survive around me? — Anywho, I am truly grateful for the friends I have, especially those who stay close to me. I don’t know what would I do without them, they bring color to my life.

Let’s see, I’m grateful for my childhood, my family and my moving experience (as in me and parents moved a lot one place to another) because I learned probably the most important lesson, to always accept the new, recycle everything that no longer represents me and just move on. I never got the change to build true friendships but I think I have quite a few now.

As in family, two people continue to amaze me every day, my beloved grandmother which I’ll be forever grateful. Most of my important opportunities were maintained by her, she is the one that built more than just a foundation to my future. The second person is my cousin, she is the sister I always wanted and I’m truly grateful for becoming this strong independent adult and also a true friend of mine. She’s the proof that tells me that no matter what will happen, we’ll never be alone.

Hmm, something creative… I’m more than thankful to an old friend who gave me a copy of The Sims 2, the game that changed my life and saved the child inside me. Thanks to him, thanks to the game I am now in love with writing, storytelling, drama and pretty much everything creative around me. So yeah, dude, thank you for changing me, thank you for giving me probably the best gift in my life so far.

I am grateful to all the people who helped me, gave opportunities and stood by. I want to thank the first person who took me to Italy, back in 2009, not just because he gave the first week abroad but he introduced me to 30+ friends from all over Europe with so many great stories, plus the pizza and the sea food… My oh my!

These been said, thank you, thank you, thank you!

10 for gratefulness

First of all I have to say that I’m really grateful for discovering The Secret back in 2006 or so, a movie that totally changed my life. It’s not a movie, it’s more like a documentary with a bunch of people that talk about the law of attraction, the one law that governs the universe. Long story short, it changed my way of thinking and it thought me how to be grateful for everything around me in order to find my happiness.

I believe being grateful is one of the obligatory missions of our being, it’s the one thing we need to do, at least before bed time, in order to analyze and develop our lives.

I want to do an experiment and also, bring closer, deeper into my life the teachings of The Secret. As the first Magic lesson, I’ll write each day, for the upcoming 27 days, starting tomorrow, 10 grateful thoughts. This way I’ll manage to analyze my life so far, my wants and needs, also be able to live the moment, to feel it. Take it as character development.

Today, all I’ll say that I’m grateful that is Saturday night and here I am with my father in a room no longer fighting for the computer because now I have a laptop and I can do pretty much everything I want on it. I’m thankful to have him here. Plus he puts good ambient music, Portuguese fado that brings so many great memories! Also, he’s really silent, barely moves … No idea what he’s doing over there. I love him, he’s a great father!

And It’s good, you know, finally good… A quality father-son moment where everyone is happy, even mom in the other room, watching her favorite soap at the big TV.

Another one crossed from the list

I wrote down a shopping list not so long time ago and yesterday I had the chance to finally cross off the most important item from it, the laptop — And it was not even my birthday! Struggling without one those machines for almost a year gave my life quite a tough touch, especially at work where all our computers are outdated and extremely slow, not being able to keep two applications open, not even two tabs in a browser. I needed one more than food or clothes¬†(now that’s a pretty joke).

First of all, I want to thank one of my best friends, Adrian, for making this need of mine fulfilled (kinky!). I don’t know what would I do without you.

And now, a moment of gratefulness. I am grateful for my brand new laptop because it’s exactly what I was looking for, a light, slim 13.3 inch notebook with a big enough storage, HD graphic card and long battery life. Plus its strong and stylish aluminum case that goes with any outfit and offers quite a professional look!

How’s your shopping list doing?
